The Nationals goton a plane Sunday and headed west for a 10 game road trip that will see them face off against the Dodgers, Padres and Giants. This will be the Nats first and only West Coast trip of the season and they will play 20 games in 21 days. First up, the Nats will take on the Dodgers (15-21) for a three game series in Los Angeles.
The Dodgers have disappointed all season. In the offseason and throughout the spring they were repeatedly touted as a team that could go deep into the playoffs, but injuries have decimated that roster. Also, many of their stars have gotten off to slow starts. Specifically, Matt Kemp and Andre Ethier have only hit four home runs this entire season.
Every year some teams that were supposed to contend fall short of the hype given to them by the sports media. However, most of these teams do not have a $220 million payroll.
