Game #50 Preview: Nats vs. Marlins

Game 3 of 3: Wednesday, May 30, 7:10 EDT, Marlins Park

The Nats are looking to salvage a win from this series after wasting a strong outing by Edwin Jackson last night, giving away the game on a costly error. The lack of run support didn't help either. Tonight Chien-Ming Wang faces off against Josh Johnson. Let the puns ensue.

There isn't much to say on Wang this year, he was injured while off to a solid start in spring training and made his first appearance in relief of Ross Detwiler last Friday. He was decent in that lone appearance, giving up one run on three hits over three innings and earning the win. Against current Marlins (54PA) Wang has fared well, with a .542 OPS combined. Although, the only Marlins he's faced multiple times are Buck, Reyes and Infante.

Josh Johnson looked decidedly un-"Josh Johnson"-like during his first six starts of the season, but has rounded into form over his last four. His most recent outing was the worst of those four where he gave up three runs on nine hits over five innings. Against the Nationals, Johnson has been very good, compiling a .626 OPS against current Nats with multiple solid outings against Zim, LaRoche, Shark and Desmond. In the end it depends on which Josh Johnson shows up tonight, the one who has been solid for the past few weeks, or the one who got lit up by the Phils, Cubs and Mets in consecutive outings.
